La musica del destino! (The music of destiny)
When I was a child, people danced the tango in Lundo. It was a time when the music filled the streets and captivated people.
At 10 o'clock on Saturdays, Gardel's voice rang out punctually from the neighbor's open window. This impressive voice and the echo between the houses fascinated me every time. I remember watching the neighbor dance to the beat as she cleaned her apartment, her movements synchronized with the music, as if she were being guided by an invisible partner.
On Sunday afternoon, I watched my favorite uncle dance from the terrace. He moved with an ease that I admired. But it was even better on Sunday evenings in the market square: five chairs and a bottle of wine were always ready. Four chairs limited the dance floor and the bottle of wine was the fee for the gravedigger who played the music. He knew how to create the right atmosphere. Often, my uncle said, he even made the accordion cry. At my request, he played my favorite song several times in the evening. These memories are very precious to me.
Many years later, I saw the news one evening on German television about the arrival of a dance teacher from Argentina in Berlin. My favorite song was playing in the background - it was incredible! I had searched for a long time without orientation, but now my goal was clear. To reach it, I had to overcome obstacles such as time, distance, and much more.
After years of painstakingly learning the "caminar," I needed the right music to be able to dance with joy. It has now been 20 years since the first DJ set, to the delight of many dancers in Europe. My wife and I, the Tango Kids, have been together for 14 years!
